car junkie with commitment issues

quick shot: Corrado

Ok so I have loved the corrado for quite some time, but I have never bought one, usually overpriced, but the recession pricing is getting tempting. I have to admit tho that I have liked vdubs for a long time but never really got around to buying one mostly because of the maintenance costs of older german cars(only the germans brag about german engineering), even the new skool (mk5) vw’ers have a “CEL”(Check Engine Light) club. so for various reasons I have never had a VW.

But there is plenty of reasons to love the cars, they look awesome, drive awesome, and the interior/driving position is awesome…. tempting to get one, but not sure if i ever will.

Thanks to speedhunters for the pic

but back to the looks.

the corrado.
low offset and low ride height is the name of the game here.

Thanks to a friend of mine pointing out the lack of automaker diversity I’ll try to do more posts on “other” makes.

The corrado, alias scirocco. Always was a neat little car. But, yeah, way over priced at the time. I believe it had a double timing chain system, “das gut”. But it was never a big seller, because the japanese arrived with thier sportier (and less expensive) cars at the same time.
It was also one of the rare VWs that was still made in Germany. Did you know their new “VW Van” is actually a Chrysler Town and Country, made right here in Canada. Misleading advertising, I would say. And mexican Jettas, junk. Way over priced.

yeah the new van is crap unfortunately, I always want to like VW’s enough to get one but then you see some of the stats of the mistakes they make … like the uber cheap jetta’s. I believe most the diesels and some of the gli/gti versions are still made in germany but that’s it.
