car junkie with commitment issues

a real 86

This ae86 (85-87 corolla gts, RWD…. but you should really know this by now) is just what an 86 should be. simple oldschool wheels and a do it yourself approach to the whole car. No crazy offset no dumb fibreglass panels  loosely fitting and hanging off…. you get the point it’s not a high dollar build and it’s meant to be driven. it use to be that “high dollar” and ae86 would never be in the same sentence, things have changed much to my dismay…oh well.

I dig this car alot

Much thanks to roadsterdrift for this material!

Nice lowered scooter too

A rugged build (or shoddy) I could say. Not my favorite of all the posts. What’s with the steering wheel?(UUUgggglllyyyy). I prefer wheels that match, at least in color. Sorry guy.

I agree on the steering wheel but as for the rest this car is a classic japan drift corolla, it has all the old cues that I have missed recently. the mismatched but classic and somewhat rare wheels were usually mismatched because you generally swap the rear tires for drifting, and more so now days because you can’t find a full set. this car probably started out as a carb’d sr5 as you can mostly tell by the interior trim. I’m really starting to love the zenki (early) bumpers and trim. I also really like this car because of it’s attainability, it looks cheap….and ..well is pretty cheap to build, there not a lot here that’s expensive…. at least not in japan, but getting a set of those bumpers here get pricey now days.

The steering wheel makes me wonder just how hard this AE is driven. You’d think that chain would be a huge hinderance to performance driving.

Theres several AEs just like this one locally on DK.
